I must have been dreaming about art, because I woke up this morning determined to get in the studio and start working. Usually, I go sit outside, drink my coffee and write my morning journal pages before starting to work, but this morning I was hard-pressed to get the cat fed before getting started.
Yesterday was the first time I've done any painting since coming back from vacation. I worked on finishing a couple projects that have been sitting there, and then today I played around some with image transfers. I don't have anything yet to show you with the transfers; I'm just playing around still. I had heard about printing directly onto fusible webbing. Well, my printer is crappy enough without putting strange materials through it, so instead I printed on paper, then ironed the webbing to the paper. I know that sounds weird. I was trying to do something similar to when you put the thick acrylic gel on the printed image, then after the gel is dry, you wet the paper and remove it, leaving the image transferred to the gel. So after ironing the webbing to the paper, I wet the paper .... yeah, it didn't work. The entire image was coming off. So I thought maybe if I ironed it again, having been wet maybe the ink will transfer this time. I ironed it again, wet the paper again, and started rubbing the paper off. This worked pretty good on the first image, but the second one was less successful. I'll be applying these to some piece of paper or canvas or something, and then I'll show you.
In the meantime, I finally finished this one. Not a lot has changed since I last showed you, but enough to call it done.
I finished this box too. It's funny how just one little addition can change so much about a piece of art. I was carrying this outside to photograph it, when I looked at it and thought, "Ewwww! I don't like this!" So back in the studio I went. I squirted some yellow alcohol ink on it, smeared it around a little, and then I was happy:)
Both of these are in my shop now. I'm trying to fill the shop back up, since I removed most all of the paintings to put them in the Violet Hill Boutique up in Logan. If I can keep the same momentum I've had today, I should be doing well.
Ok, I have to go bathe now. I can't stand myself anymore.
Good for you! I love the way those purple flowers (campanula?) pop against the back ground :) Isn't funny sometimes you just get this *itch* and you can't rest till it's done... :)
