While we were in Iowa, we stopped by to visit an amazing old cemetery.
I think this is one of the oldest cemeteries I've ever seen. There were very primitively styled stones and some that were so worn by time as to be almost unrecognizable as markers.
Others were more elaborate. Some were set off by themselves.
This wooden post marker, with I think a brass plate on top, was unique.
The sun was setting and the light here was amazing. It created a very otherworldly atmosphere, conjuring impressions of gothic romances.
The sunlight falling on the headstones made them glow like a light from within.
I'm not certain, but I had a creepy suspicion the place might be haunted, you know that shiver up your spine like you are not alone? I'm not sure what gave me that feeling;)
