I took all of your lovely suggestions, put them in a bowl and stirred them up. This is what I came up with! One version of the blog banner is upstairs there. What do you think? At first I thought I was in love, but then I started thinking about how the fashion for blog banners right now is to be more narrow. Now I don't normally follow fashion. You should see what I'm wearing right now! On second thought, it's best you don't. Is blog banner fashion like men's ties and women's hem lines?
Another reason for keeping it narrow, is that I want the page as a whole to look good. I don't want all of the focus on just the banner; I want the eye, and attention, to be drawn to my posts. So, below I have one example of a narrow banner for the blog, and then several for the shop. For that, I'm given a specific measurement I have to adhere to. The four shop examples are almost the same, but there are slight differences. Also, the pictures here came out a little fuzzy looking, because I changed the resolution, but the real ones are clear. What do you think?
I really appreciate you talented ladies (and two, possibly three gentlemen that I know of who read this) letting me borrow your eyes and imaginations to figure this out!
Do you have fun plans for the weekend? Guess what we have in the forecast! That's right! More rain! And little snippets of sun here and there I hope:) Some of my plants I've noticed are kind of yellow. They want the sun to come back as much as I do.
Ciao for now! Have a fabulous weekend, whatever is in your forecast!
I like the second one best! Might just be my screen, but the blue background looks lighter, I like that :)
ReplyDeleteNice banner - I love it! I agree the second one looks really nice...your name and tagline really pops!
ReplyDeleteThe thing I don't like about the second one is that the items are cropped out. The lighter background is nice.
ReplyDeleteOh, man. You are really trying to make me think here.
ReplyDeleteI like the way your new banner fills up the whole screen {on this computer, anyway...} because it makes me want to scroll on down and look at more. Sometimes, to me, when the banner is skinny, it just looks too busy with all the other stuff showing right away too.
Does that make sense??
I love a big banner. I was only thinking the other day I might make mine bigger! lol anyway out of the narrow ones I love the third and fourth the best xox
ReplyDeleteI vote for the big one at top, just sized down a bit.
ReplyDelete#4 please! It feels the most balanced and I like the tag line. Beautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteI really like #4 and #5.
ReplyDeleteIt seems more balanced with the text slightly to the right. Also, the new background with the craft supplies looks wonderful - my eyes really like those colors together!
I agree that #2 is missing some of the objects you were trying to get in the photo.
Finally, I really like your full name with the "crochet and fiber arts" tagline.
You're doing a wonderful job!
P.S. I really like the large header. The background texture really compliments the crochet, thimble, vintage thread, etc. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBobbi - Are you on Ravelry.com?
ReplyDeleteThis would be yet another great way to show off your crochet projects...
@knudsonerica, I am on Ravelry:)
