Earlier this week, I was having kind of a cruddy day. I heard the mail man come, and I looked out at the mailbox thinking, "some good mail would make me feel better." And look what was in there!!!!! My bloggy friend Pam sent a care package, full of stuff she knows I love. She even put a Far Side cartoon in there, and I don't think she knew how much I love Far Side:)
I'm working on some mail of my own. I've had this idea in my head that I want to do a fabric post card. You know how much I like mailing weird stuff! So I made my mama a card. Mom, if you read this before you check the mail, Happy Mother's Day!
A problem I often run into when I'm creating is that while I'm working on step two, I don't think ahead to step five. That can often have serious implications. I do this a lot when creating post cards; I forget to leave room for postage. In this case, I have to add quite a bit more postage than what will fit in the tiny space I left. Poo! That's not really what I said, but I try to keep it clean here.
So my fix was to put the whole thing in a ziplock bag, with some clear packing tape added for extra security, and plenty of postage applied. Because it's non-machinable and heavier than a regular post card, it has to be treated as a package. Even if it wasn't in the ziplock bag. Do you think it will arrive at my mom's? I sure hope so!
This is what I'll be working on over the weekend, in addition to attending the Wasatch Plant Sale, weeding the front and back flower beds, building two more raised beds to plant all the tomatoes in that I will be buying at the plant sale, finishing some Etsy orders, attending a play on Sunday, and..... oh dear, I'm sure there are many more things in there I need to get done. I only have a week before my family comes to visit me! Any guesses as to what the fabric will be????? I'm going to use it while the family is here:)
To all of you mothers out there who make this rockin' world go 'round, Happy Mother's Day!
Have a great weekend!
Aww... :). What a great care package! I miss the Far Side comics! (I miss Calvin and Hobbes too!). Happy Mother's Day to YOU too!
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't know how much you liked Far Side! That was something I had from an entire different lifetime ago when I had a pig collection....
ReplyDelete{can you imagine???}
But something just said "Send this to Bobbi...she will like it....."
Did you see anything in the Kitchen magazine that tripped your trigger???
LOVE the postcard! I never thought of sending something in a baggie before....
A whole new world has just opened up!
Anyway...most excellent postcard.
And Happy Mother's Day to you.
You rock.
Awesome carepackage :).
ReplyDeleteI love the postcard I am going to have to try that...you put too many ideas into my head!
I think the fabric will be made into napkins?
I'm making quilted placemats out of scrap strips and napkins too for future gifts.
Going to get the rest of the seeds in this weekend but I'm still going to give it a another week before planting my pots up and putting in veggie starts....I don't trust Colorado to not freeze during the night just yet.
I still need to receive my heirloom tomato starts from seed savers too....hmm wonder where those are?
Miss you Bobbalina!
