Do you love Halloween as much as I do? The child in me definitely comes out this time of year. I have been having so much fun decorating the house and making spooky things for my shop. Having been an art student I have fun things like skulls and skeletons from my figure drawing class! I tell DH, "I'm working!" as I'm running around draping garlands over everything imaginable and staging photos.
When I'm not playing with ghoulish decorations, I've been checking out my Google Analytics. G.A. tells me that the whole Friday's Herbal thing has spun itself out. It was fun while there were actual herbs growing in our backyards, but those days are over for now, at least in this neck of the woods. So, I've decided to compost that idea for now;)
Along that same vein, I've just felt like my blog has been getting boring and I want to pep it up a bit. I think it's a reflection of my life lately; since DH has been laid up I don't get out a lot. I believe it's really true that in order to be creative and innovative you have to see and experience life. For that reason, not just for my blog, but so that I don't become an incredibly boring person that I can't stand to be around, I am going to make a concerted effort to leave my house more often. Even if it's just to walk around the block, or better yet, there is a beautiful park just a ways down the street. Seeing nature's artwork out there should spark some creative fires in me!
In addition to revving up my creative inspiration, I want to know what you, my readers, want to see here. I write this blog with you guys in mind, so it's important to me that you are getting what you come here for. When I think about what I want the blog to be, I think of a place of inspiration, a little bliss and beauty, a restful stop in a busy life. So, please, be candid with me, am I giving you that? What do you want to see more of when you come here? Do you like the tutorials and the glimpses into my studio? More food? Less food? Is there something you would enjoy that I haven't even thought of? Do I post too much or not enough? Do you like short posts or longer ones? How about pictures, are there too many? Leave your responses in the comments, or if you'd rather you can email me at bobbijlewin(at)gmail(dot)com. I appreciate that you take the time to stop off here and read my silly words. I want to make this a place you want to keep coming back to.
The Beehive Craftival is this weekend, and I need to finish getting everything ready. I probably have enough stuff, but I keep thinking of just one more thing I want to do. I'll see you on Monday! Have a super fantastic weekend:)
I keep going back on forth on what a blog is "for." Am I writing content for an audience? (Sometimes.) Should I just write about whatever I'm doing? I kind of just tend to do that :) We're not really big on Halloween in this house- I have a few decorations I pull out every year, and the kids are having fun with "fall" activities.
ReplyDeleteJust be who you are, Bobbi. I like blogs where the author's authentic personality comes through.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Hallowe'en too, and especially day of the dead. I took a long walk yesterday and could really feel the veil between the worlds shifting and becoming thinner and thinner.
(and thanks for the artist list, and your cute shout out).
I plan to have an authentic "Feast for the Dead" this year, i hope you guys will join us.I think i will also get out of my house and dress up as a disco ghoul for the party this year!!
ReplyDeleteI have started blogging what i create, as a way of keeping track for myself...i often let things go without documenting, so it has helped with that....I have just enjoyed getting to know you better through your blog. follow your heart...
Seasonal deco...not big in my book. I do sometimes get roped into it for work, like this year's not very scary ghosts in the kids department. Might blog some photos at my site? hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteI do like to seeing what others are doing...so thanks for sharing Bobbi! :)
