And it's Monday again! The Craftival was fun:) There is my helper up there, my step-son, and our pretty little booth. He was a great assistant; he helped arrange everything pretty, and there is no way I could have gotten that canopy up without him!
It was a fairly quiet day, traffic-wise. There were only 800 million other fairs and events going on in town the same day. I did make some good connections, and even got to "teach" a young teen boy how to crochet. That part was fun; he was totally enthralled with the process!
I also learned more about the creators of the Beehive Craftival event. They are two crafty young women here in town who decided they wanted to create a very grass roots, community based arts and crafts venue. They are envisioning a monthly event, and I plan to be there. Next month is going to include a harvest festival with lots of kid friendly activities. Do you have any ideas for something simple I could include in my booth for kids? I was thinking maybe I could do some crow coloring pages and even have a little coloring station set up.
Speaking of crows.... are you sick of them yet? I hope not, 'cause I have a bunch more bubbling up. This isn't quite finished; I need to do more with the wire, but I've managed to lose my tools in the chaos of last week's creating frenzy. Cleaning the studio is very high on the to-do list.
Do you ever dream craft projects or art ideas? When you wake up, had everyone better get out of your way so you can go make the project a reality? I do it fairly frequently. Last week, or maybe the week before, it's all a blur now, I spent an entire night solving the problem of how to finish a felted bowl. This is a bowl I hadn't even thought of prior to that night of dreaming. When I woke up, I thought, "oh yes! That is a good idea!" Then after trying to remember where I had put it, I realized I didn't even have a blue felted bowl! So of course I had to make one. I'm still working on the "how to finish it" piece. It involves pods and marbles.
I started dreaming this last week, too. I don't know why the big red five is up there in the corner, but it figured prominently in the dreams, so I guess it must be important! I am going to try my hardest to keep this bird all in graphite and not paint over him. Wish me luck:)
I haven't quite gotten back to the Joker Crow; he is waiting patiently, looking for mischief to get into.
And now I have a really overdue library book to return.
Hope your week is off to a splendid start!
Your booth looks great. I want to know more about those two bags I see hanging up there.
ReplyDeleteI think a coloring station is a good idea. I don't have any ideas for kid-friendly activities ... I like yours.
I love that you see these things in your dreams. I've never been one to remember my dreams, but I do get flashes of ideas as I'm drifting off. I like your crows.
Yes, I think that's an EXCELLENT idea to have a coloring station. You're so lucky that you can dream about your creations (kind of like a song writer) I love the bowl dream :)
ReplyDeleteYour birds are wonderful--don't stop with them.
I don't have such a nice looking helper to assist me at my fall festival next week.....
