I have craft ADD. It is really hard for me to focus on one project for any length of time without getting distracted. So getting ready for this craft fair tomorrow has been a challenge for me. Every time I walk by this ball of turquoise wool/silk blend it calls to me, "Bobbbbbi! Forget about all of the other stuff and come and knit yourself something pretty!"
I have managed to ignore it, but promised myself that come Saturday night, I'm getting out the knitting needles. I am swearing off crocheting for at least a week! Here is my practice set up. Just a small table, but all I need. I'm going to hang garlands and crows from the shade canopy.
You can see DH's cast there. Don't tell him that I showed this to you. Although, he has been flaunting his x-rays on Facebook, showing everyone the insides of his leg! How dirty is that?
Some of the things I've been up to: I want a variety of price points, so I made a whole bunch of these paper garlands to sell inexpensively. In an attempt to make-do, I put together a quick business card alternative and some little price tags.
I haven't done a craft fair in a few years, but I am expecting to get some of the, "why is this so expensive?" remarks. I'm really afraid of turning into the Craft Nazi at that point, "No craft for you! Get out of my booth!" I'm rehearsing more pleasant responses. Any suggestions?
Triangles are popular right now, so I made some triangle necklaces. These coasters and trivets are crocheted and felted in the washer. That turquoise is really hard to photograph. I played around with Photoshop and I still can't get it the right color. It's an amazing color that makes me just want to dissolve into it.
This is probably my favorite thing I made, and it's not for sale. I have this bag of patchwork stars that I somehow got the idea in my head that my dad had made them. I obviously misunderstood, because Mom said, "no". She didn't remember, but thought they might have been from a box of quilt pieces that they found in a house they moved into, either when I was a baby or before. In any case, they're reeeeeally old! I sewed backs to the stars and then attached them to a piece of crochet edging I was making many years ago. This is really a work in progress; I'm going to add embroidery to the stars and maybe some buttons and whatever.
I've always had this sort of fantasy about having a little shop. I know it's not something I really want to do, because then I wouldn't have time to make crows. So I'm looking at the craft booth as an opportunity to play store.
And more garlands have been coming off the end of my crochet hook.
And even more....
I am quite exhausted and ready to crash. I still need to attach price tags and crochet more red flowers to go with the business cards. I really wish I had someone to bring me dinner right now. Mmmmmm food;)
OK, off I go. Wish me luck and many sales:) Have a wonderful, fabulous, super dooper weekend!
wonderful goodies Bobbi! best of luck!
ReplyDeleteSo, so pretty! You'll do great :) I don't see how anyone could look at one of your amazing crocheted pieces and wonder why it would have a high price. Thousands of little crochet loops takes time!!
ReplyDeleteBut...my eyes aren't focusing well tonight. My first thought when I saw your triangle necklaces was "Why is Bobbi crocheting tiny triangle bikinis?" Because that's totally something I would have found at the craft bazaars my grandma used to love :)
It is all very pretty and colorful! Have fun at the craft fair.
ReplyDeleteThanks all!
ReplyDeleteI love your crochet banners! Have a wonderful show at the fair!
ReplyDeleteGreat works! Love the colors and different materials you use!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post---I am doing the same thing right now.....getting ready to set up my little display at Mom's assisted living facility's fall festival next week.
ReplyDeleteSo it all looks very familiar---making price tags, practicing the displays....such fun!
I hope my final set-up will look as nice as yours does!!!
