My blog posts are out of order this week. I don't like for things to be out of order. Order, structure, organization comfort me, make me feel secure. Life at Casa Bobbi just seems more and more out of order and topsy turvy every day. So I have been seeking solace in wool.
The sensory experience of feeling the soft, warm comfort of the wool, and seeing the beautiful colors soothes me. The rhythm and mathematical precision of the stitches really satisfies my need for order. This is a pair of slippers I'm working on, in anticipation of cooler days (months) to come. I'm using this pattern. The young woman at the yarn store suggested this crochet hook for arthritic hands. It looks like my thermometer. I sure hope I don't get confused. I do love the hook though! I did all this crocheting last night after dinner, with no cramped hands.
I did go a little crazy when I escaped to the yarn store one day last week. The walls of amazing color just made me swoon. I picked up another ball of turquoise because I can't get enough of that color. It's for more slippers, but a different pattern. Those other two balls that are looking really orange are a deep orange-gold. I don't know yet what it will be, but someone is getting a xmas present made from it;)
This is a sumptuous alpaca that I got in Colorado last winter. The scarf is my design. I didn't create the stitches on my own though. I have books of stitch patterns and I combined a couple to come up with what I wanted. This yarn is so soft; I can't wait to wear the scarf.
This is a scarf that I have been working on for many, many years. It's a very fine silk thread, worked on number two needles. I can work on it all evening and only have an inch to show for my labors! I knitted some beads into the beginning rows, and will put more on the very end.
This is that turquoise wool/silk blend that I showed you a couple weeks ago. It's another scarf. I'm going to have plenty of scarves this winter!
Ok, DH is waiting for me to finish so we can go run errands. I really want a sandwich.
Have a great rest of your Monday!
**Edit: the crochet hook up there is the Clover Soft Touch size H. I picked it up at my local yarn store, but it seems to be widely available.
Mmmm....delicious colors! Hubby must be doing better, if he's anxiously awaiting your finish so you can run errands with him :) Maybe the dragon cast gives him extra power, lol :)
