I really want to put a more concentrated effort into improving my photography skills. I have so much to learn about white balance, composition, exposure settings, and the list goes on. I know that I do manage to take some good photos, but at those moments when I really need a good shot, I'm not reliably getting it. Which means I need to take time to actually study and practice the craft, rather than just shooting on the fly and hoping for the best.
I've been out on the internet looking for inspirational and educational blogs about photography. This week I'm being inspired by Kristi at Life Through the Lens. She gives weekly photo prompts, and this week is "create".
Right now I'm thinking about creating supportive relationships and circles of friends, like this group in my photo. I am realizing how important it is to work at building healthy friendships, and to be selective in doing so. It can be very surprising, when there is an upset in your life, to see who steps forward and who runs the other way. The folks who step forward are the ones to keep in the circle. It's also important to be a forward stepper when the folks in your circle need you. That can take work, but our communities are what support us, each one with an arm around the other; when someone drops an arm it leaves a gap in the support system.
Oh wow, I'm really waxing philosophical today. Anyway, I just want to say that I am thankful for this lovely blog community. There are so many sweet, kind, and very supportive people out there, and - in Utah speak - I preciate cha!
Wishing you a Happy Autumnal Equinox and a Blessed Mabon:)
Ahhhh! As the thunder cracks and the skies let loose with rain drops.....
Have you considered taking a photography class? I'm in a similar situation, wanting to be able to get more out of my camera, but so far I haven't been able to find a local class that sounds right for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post Bobbi and it is so true about having support and being supportive to others when they need it. I love the image you've posted as well...it fits perfectly with your words.
ReplyDeleteI find that with photography-the more I learn the more there is to learn. It's always so overwhelming at times. It will come and you will learn. I try to read/learn as much as I can and then experiment. Flickr is a great support and resource too...are you on flickr?
I wish it would rain down here in southern Utah. No such luck yet.
Hope you have a great day! xoxo, k
Thanks Kristi! Your photos are so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved your interpretation of the create challenge. Your photo and words were just right :)
