DIY Dish Scrubbies

citrus bags
I've been saving these bags that lemons and limes come in, thinking there must be some very cool thing I could make from them.  Every time I walked by them, they whispered, "psst!  dish scrubby!", quite possibly because I've been in need of a new scrubby for awhile now.

So I hauled out my sewing machine today, and gathered up some supplies.  I cut the bags to the size I wanted for my scrubby, and also cut up an old t-shirt and an old dish rag.

I thought I'd try a couple different approaches.  The one on the left, I just stacked the 3 pieces, sewed them, turned them right side out and sewed the end shut.  The one on the right, I put the dish cloth inside the yellow stuff, stacked the green on top and just sewed it all together, leaving raw edges.
ta da! scrubbies
I hope the sewing police don't look at my stitching!  They are just for scrubbing dishes after all.  I tried both out on my sink of dirty dishes.  I like the one with the t-shirt best I think; it seemed to hold the soap suds better.  And they should both hold up in the washing machine too.  I'll go finish my dishes now.
