I mentioned last week about my current candy making kick. I picked a horrible time to start this adventure, since candy making success is determined to a great bit by things like humidity and barometric pressure. Nevertheless, I devoured this book as soon as I received it. Candy is pretty, and I really need pretty things around me right now to take my mind off the crappy, unbreathable, air outside and the gray skies.
My peppermint marshmallows came out very nice. The chocolate coating, only so-so. It wasn't as shiny as I would like. Could have been the weather, or maybe I just didn't stir it long enough. Either way, it tasted really good!
My pâte de fruits just did not work at all. It was a disaster I don't care to recount. Nightmarish really. I'll try again when the weather gets better. (if it ever gets better) These candies are so pretty don't you think? Like little fruit flavored jewels. Ahhh, until then I'll have to occupy myself with something else, like crocheting or painting:)
Mmm the marshmallows look good :) Shiny chocolate is totally over-rated anyway, so long as it's chocolate ;)
