Friday Fancies

Vintage Thread Spool Garland
I've been prettying up the studio.  All credit for this idea goes to my friend, Eileen.  Yesterday, I sent out a plea for ideas for displaying these vintage spools of thread that my mom gave me last spring when I was in Iowa.  Eileen came through with some great ideas.  I liked this one the best.

I got into my fabric stash and tore off one inch wide strips, each about seven to ten inches long.  I threaded each one through a spool, then tied them all together.  Then I got into the ribbon stash (don't you love stash?) and tied bits of colorful ribbon onto each knot.

The resulting garland was very long, so I strung it all the way across the studio, corner to corner.  It's funny to me just how much this moves me out of my comfort zone, and how much it demonstrates my split personality.  I have been wanting to inject the studio with a little whimsy.  I do like whimsy, but I also like order.  I strung this fanciful garland across the room, and my boring self said, "oh my that will never do!"  I told her to shut up:)

Have a good weekend!  I'll see you Monday.
