Do you have the holiday frazzles yet? I've gone beyond frazzles to shut-down mode. I have lists of things I ought to be doing. I stare off into space a lot. I brought the boxes of Christmas ornaments up from the basement on the day after Thanksgiving. They are still sitting here, behind me as I type. I did manage to put my tiny tree up. All it has on it is one tiny owl. His brother left.
If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you know that this time of year I start to get philosophical and analyze my life to death. I seem to have started early this year. I usually wait until a little bit closer to New Years it seems. I feel like I've been chasing my tail a lot. That's part of my shut-down. I just want to sit down in my studio and play in my art journal with my new toy set. Yes, I bought myself an early Christmas present. I'm an artist; I need art supplies, do I not?
Do you get philosophical at the end of the year? How do you find time to ponder amidst all the hustle and bustle of the season?
I so agree!! I'm cutting way back- we need to be ready for Christmas early this year, due to traveling plans, and trying to get EVERYTHING in just isn't happening. I want a post-it note for my forehead that says SIMPLIFY. Maybe then I'll remember, eh? Good luck, and hope your holidays are going well!!
ReplyDeleteI need post-its with my name on them! ha ha!
ReplyDeletethe older i get, the simpler i try to keep the holiday season.
ReplyDeletethe gift of time with friends and family has become so much more important than presents and "stuff".
i'm not sure if that makes me a humbug, but it's working for me.
:-)
We let go of the commercial aspect of the holiday season a long time ago. I like to give a few handmade gifts. Still the season gets hectic and I worry about expectations. Ba humbug on that!
