Mom's hairdresser told her about an eagle nest not far from here.
So we headed over. He (?) was watching intently from his perch.
I assume Mama was in here with the eggs. Is that not the hugest nest you've ever seen? Do I have the awfullest grammar?
I believe this guy is a Common Grackle. Not positive on that.
We saw the first violets of the season. This perfect, blue blossom is at the top of my favorite flower list:)
At home, the feral cats were lining up early for dinner.
I just love this hobbit house tree in my mom's front yard. What do you think might live in there? As for DH and I, being city dwellers and all, we've seen a few animals we can't identify! Ha! Mostly because of not getting a real good look, it being very early morning, middle of the moon-lit night, or just a distance issue. There were racoons fighting in the yard Wednesday night! Those guys are loud and mean sounding. I'm really enjoying my visit to the woods though, and of course being with my mom is the greatest treasure. Time is winding down pretty fast. Before I know it, we'll be headed home. As for now, I'm going to continue soaking up all this nature and adding to my bird list:)
Have a fabulous weekend and I'll see you on Monday!

What a sweet hidey hole! I kind of told E, a few years ago, that if she left out azalea blossoms near our own hidey hole, the fairies would use them as skirts, and the boy fairies would use the stamens as swords.... she sets them out every year now, when Spring comes :)
