Work very in progress. So in progress I haven't started yet. I always do this in the wrong order. I buy the yarn, and then look for a pattern. I'm making a present for someone special, so I can't say much about it yet.
This first week of AEDM hasn't turned out quite like I meant for it to. Of course, it's only Wednesday, so I can turn it around. I have been creating in the kitchen, and creating order in my home and life. Those are good things that have needed to happen. That gluten free pumpkin pie in the oven is important to my well being.
The part I feel is missing is that time I meant to carve out of every day to go play in my studio. I keep pushing it off in order to do other things, like grocery shopping. Now while grocery shopping is important, especially when one's cupboards are as bare as mine have been, I want to make my creative play time as important.
How do you schedule your creative play time? Are you committed to it, or do you let other things get in the way?
See what others are doing at AEDM
I hear you! (Which is why my posts have been about compost piles...) I want to carve out time for creative, but right now, most of my "create" time is being commandeered by other things that need creating.
ReplyDeleteI fight the creep of every day stuff into my art time every day. With the kids in school, 9-12 is supposed to be dedicated art time. I probably only do it 2-3 days a week and the rest of the week appointment and other things creep in. Some weeks are better than others, and some days I make art all day to make up for not being in the studio for a day or two.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've bought materials just because it attracted me for whatever reason... I think it's okay to indulge sometimes :P Very pretty yarn!
ReplyDeleteI tend to let myself go when inspiration strikes, because otherwise I might lose the flow of it all... but I do think you have to schedule it too, because without giving it time, you might not get to it! Even a little bit of time, gets you going.
I think the part that I lack is the "dedicated" thing.......
ReplyDeleteSeems like other stuff always gets in the way.
And then I feel SOOO guilty.
Or if I do decide that I am going to work on something, I start and then get sidetracked by something else......
grrrrr.........
Love the yarn, by the way....
