We had a wonderful visit with my brothers and sister-in-law last week. My house feels incredibly empty now. It was a fun week, even though it rained almost constantly, and it was cold. Our outdoor plans were foiled. There were no picnics in the mountains or backyard, no trips to the bird refuge, the hot springs or the zoo. But there are plenty of indoor things to see in Utah, and of course there is always talking and catching up!
I'll take you on a little tour of our week. It never occurred to me to take the real camera (!) so all of these are with the phone camera.
We visited the Living Planet Aquarium. I found lots of crochet inspiration:)
I love watching the fish swim about.
This is a moon jelly. I could watch these guys for hours. Very hypnotic.
More lovely swaying in the current.
We went to the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point.
I find natural history museums to be so peaceful, soothing.
My SIL picked up a book on haunted places in Utah, one of which was the Crane Mansion. The story in the book sounded intriguing and it said the place was now an art museum. We looked it up on the internet, got the address and headed to Riverton. We got there, only to find out that it is now just a wedding spot. No ghosts. No art. And I'm not really getting mansion from this. It's barely bigger than any house on my block.
So we headed toward Gardner Village, a cute little shopping center in West Jordan. They had pretty flowers.
Blooming trees.
And I was having way too much fun with the FX app on my phone. After the Crane Mansion, I guess I wanted everything to be haunted:)
It was a lovely setting, and the sun was out briefly, although you can't tell in this photo!
Inside a vintage shop.
A different perspective.
And we are seeing more and more of this around here. The rain finally stopped Saturday, just in time for our visitors to leave again. But it was back Sunday, and we're waiting for more the rest of the week. I'm really hoping we don't have a repeat of the 1983 floods; as fascinated with floods as I am, it's probably not a good idea.
Hope you are having a grand start to your week. I'll see you Wednesday!
Oooh...pretty fish :) It's always sad when family leaves!
ReplyDeleteArrival/departures...they are so bittersweet.
ReplyDeletePictures and documentaries on underwater life is always so fascinating to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Really nice pics! I can see your fascination with the Jelly fish, it reminds me of a lava lamp :) Hope you staying safe and dry, have a great day...
