Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are having a wonderful day. It is simply glorious here in Utah. We're getting a little taste of spring this week and I am doing my best to absorb it into every cell in my being. The sun is shining; the sky is blue; the air is breathable, and it's warm. It's one of those blissful days that make you go, "mmmmmmm:)"
I went on a little excursion to the cemetery this weekend to visit the local deer herd. I'm looking for antlers for an art project, and photos do draw from - inspiration and actual graphite. I didn't find any antlers, but I got some good shots. I wanted to share some of these beauties with you.
Is this a male or a female? Now is the time when they start shedding their antlers, so you can't tell by that. This one was off by itself, while the others were in groups. I don't know if that is a clue.
The guys were hanging out together.
Beautiful sculpture too.
A younger buck.
Isn't this guy magnifent?!? Looking through the zoom lens, he looked a lot closer than he was. Then he started coming towards me and he narrowed his eyes for a moment. I wondered if I should hide behind a headstone. I didn't want to stress these guys or have them stress me!
I guess he decided I wasn't a threat, and he went about his business.
I'm looking forward to doing some sketches this week, working with these photos as inspiration.
Happy Monday to you! See you on Wednesday!

Love this post ... love the photos ... love the energy ... love, love, love!? ... must be Valentine's Day?! (note: I posted some words at your last biblio-entry ...)

ReplyDeleteorthoIt is 54 degrees here, very windy and sunny. Magical after our 70+ inches of snow here in SW CT!
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE your deer photos. They are such handsome beasts.
Happy Valentine's Day Bobbi! You took lots of amazing photos and I am looking forward seeing your sketches.......
ReplyDeleteI love those photos :). Deer always remind me of Chester for some reason.
ReplyDeleteNice racks!
ReplyDeleteSorry. Couldn't resist.
Great photos!
I looked out the front window late at night last week and saw seven deer parading single file up the street....love it when that happens! {not often enough....}
Happy Valentine's Day!
