Botanical Set - Rifle Paper Co. Hare - Delphine
When I first heard about this, I had such an ah-ha! moment. I struggle with just this all the time. A perfect example is this lovely set of note cards you see in the photo. I have been needing some note cards for months now. I would go online to Etsy or other places and there are just too many to choose from! There is so much gorgeous letterpress out there, and beautiful graphic prints. I could never make up my mind, so I just didn't order any. Then last week, in a fit of desperation at having nothing to write letters on, I decided I was just going to pick the first two that appealed to me and be done with it!
Another example is about a windfall I received. DH did a health screening at work, and as a result was given a gift card, which he turned around and gave to me. (he's a keeper!) The problem was, we had to go online and choose from a list of stores (a HUGE list of stores!) where we (I) wanted to use the free money, and then they would mail a card. To make it worse, you could divide it among a variety of stores. This one almost made my head explode!
Those are two obvious examples of having too many choices, but I realized that this is something I deal with everyday in deciding how to use my time most wisely. I end up not using my time wisely at all, but rather spinning in circles trying to decide what to do. I've been using April's principles of short to-do lists and scheduling blocks of time for different activities, and it's really helping me out. A lot! Now if I could just get April to tell me what to cook for dinner...
Anyway, if this sounds at all familiar to you, hop on over to April's, and see what she has to say about the subject. I have to go decide which store to go to first;)

Oh, what pretty cards you picked out! I do the same thing. I have literally spent a year hemming and hawing over what kind of chapstick to buy. And gift cards...sheesh! So hard to choose!!
ReplyDeleteSome days are better than others. I try to prioritize things the night before, or over breakfast, so that I can dig right in at the start of the day. If I make early progress the rest of the day feels more energized.
ReplyDeleteBut I still have the occasional day that just seems to evaporate.
As Dumbldore would say, "constant vigilance!"
'Decision paralysis' ... oh I know thee well. (I won't bore you with the details Bobbi, nor will I go to another place to read about something that I am very well acquainted with ... thank you. What I can do is lift my hands up to the sky and laugh at the joke we both share ... life can be one big overwhelm. lol.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I like the rabbit ... always go with the wabbit! <3
I guess if I wait long enough, someone always comes up with a name for what ails me.
ReplyDeleteFirst it was Restless Leg Syndrome, and now Decision Paralysis.
heehee
Where do I sign up to become the poster child???
So glad that you shared this!
First, I love the cards that you picked! Second, I'm so happy that I've been able to have a positive impact in your life :) That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible how planning and scheduling make such a big difference--taking those decisions out of the equation make life so much easier.
I felt the SAME WAY about the gift cards! I just couldn't decide!!
