Cupcakes and Zinnias

cupcakes and zinnias_1
I've moved back into a more colorful palette.  I can't stay away from color.  I will make brief forays into neutral tones, but then I start craving brights.  These are some postcards I've been working on.  I used Bingo cards as the base, put down a layer of gesso, and painted with acrylics over that.  I stamped the words.

Apparently I'm in a very cutsie cupcake kinda mood!  I was actually aiming for a more muted palette.  Sometimes it is like I have a block that just won't let me use pastels.

This is an ATC and a call for spring.  We had a bunch of snow dumped on us over the weekend.

What did you do over the weekend?  We saw the movie "Another Year"; it was a beautifully done film about a year in the life of a very happy and well-grounded couple, who are surrounded by folks whose lives are at various levels of happiness, sorrow, and stability.  I highly recommend it!

I'm going to go immerse myself in cleaning my studio.  It is really a small space, and even with all of the organization I've done lately, there are a number of items that seem to have just disappeared: a brand new glue stick, 3 brand new in the wrappers clip boards, a rubber stamp set.  It seems like there was something else....  Anyway, I am on a mission to find them.  Wish me luck!

  1. Yay for bright colors!! Good luck finding that glue stick...that reminds me, ALL of our glue sticks are dried up. Do you know how messy it is when the only glue available to a kindergartner is a huge bottle of liquid glue?? :)

  3. What can't I find? I can't find the email photo I was working with--to come up with a basic likeness--for the portrait-ish I have been painting. I know that it's here ... I know it ... but it has chosen to play hide and seek with me amonsgt my other art supplies. Aaaargh! So good luck to you and good luck to me ... and happy Prez day (a day off that I used to complete my current project! yay!)

And I like-like your delish cupcakes and flowers. The color is wonderful. :O)

I'm with you on color. I've been working on some photos for a post about that....I might get it accomplished in the next year or so......

Hope you found your missing goodies.

This weekend I watched some of the NBA All-Star events on TV as I watched snow come down outside my window.

  6. This is what we need--these bright fun colors--I need to clean out my room too--it's getting a bit out of hand.
I was reading Myrnie's comment--I forgot all about those bottles of gooey glue with those weird rubber tips--what do they use now in kindergarten I wonder....
