Friday's little panic attack continued as I worked on the wings. Using the wool I spun, I crochet an armature of sorts for the finer silk crochet to sit upon. I sewed the funny finger shape pieces to the crochet net and almost threw up; it looked so hokey. I immediately started imagining myself being laughed out of the fund raising event and never being able to show my face in public again.
I took some deep breaths, remembered how many other times I've been at the very same stage, with that very same inner critic being mean to me. Then I kept going. I added some more roving and used the needle to felt it some more, hopefully giving more of the appearance of the downy underside of a bird wing.
Feeling better about that, I started crocheting with the silk and a tiny little size 10 hook. This yarn crochets beautifully, and watching the dainty ruffles form pleases me to no end. I will put multiple layers of these ruffles down on each wing.
I have lots more crocheting to do, so until Wednesday... Oh. Wait. I wanted to try this..... I wasn't very successful in getting you over here with dinner in hand (although I loved all of your suggestions of what you would bring if you could!), so I was just wondering if I might get someone to clean the litter box for me???? Somehow I'm betting that there won't be quite so many "wish I coulds"! Hahahaha!

It's odd to see you working in such...brown colors! They're lovely, though :)
ReplyDeleteThe raffles are looking really delicate, I never crocheted with silk and seeing the wings being form, it must be quite a treat! Bobbi, I understand your frustrations but trust me, you are doing AWESOME! I know I said this here before but I have to say it again...I can't wait for the next post :)
ReplyDeleteThanks you guys for the moral support! It really helps me keep going!
ReplyDeleteAaah yeah,to push past the inner critic ... to find something that you can get behind. Go go go! And you are probably right about the litter box, but we really can't test out that theory because of the miles ... "miles from nowhere, guess I'll take my time, ooh yeah, to reach there." Had to throw in some Cat, especially with the bit about the box. lol.
ReplyDeleteI would be happy to clean out the litter box if it meant that I could cuddle pretty Rose!
ReplyDeleteThere might even be some Nutella in it for her............
