I'm nursing a holiday stress induced migraine this morning, which is a sure sign that I'm trying to fit too many to-dos into one day/week/month. It's time to re-evaluate my schedule and the to-do list.
How do you keep your balance during this season? Any helpful hints? Please share:)
Right now I keep perspective by pausing each day to sing a Christmas song to my baby before I put her down to sleep. We sit and look at the lights in the window and I find this incredibly peaceful. I guess my happiest Holiday traditions and moments so far this year have been when I've paused and focused on really enjoying the moment at hand.
ReplyDeleteMy greatest joy this season is remembering Christ's sacrifice and that he lives today. While so many material things I could focus on will fade away as quickly as the snow in the spring, the time I'll take to spend in worship and with those dear to me is irreplaceable.
Since 11:30 pm last night found me staring morosely at a pile of presents that suddenly seemed totally inadequate, and knowing that my over-taxed kids would be up in a few hours to start another crazy week...I think I'll just sit back and listen to what others have to say :) Hope the migraine clears quickly!!
ReplyDeletetriage.
ReplyDeletemodify.
let go.
sit down and drink tea.
take deep breaths.
repeat as often as necessary.
:-)
Pineapple vodka martinis.
ReplyDeletemy word verification this time is 'grail'...and from there I travel to the holy grail of the holiday overachiever. and what might that be?
ReplyDeleteone thing i might suggest is that you purchase some jasper. love the name! the crystal properties are such that it is known (in the crystal bible book) as the 'supreme nuturer.'
"It sustains and supports during times of stress, and brings tranquility and wholeness. Used in healing, it unifies all aspects of your life."
sounds good right?! and it is quite common and fairly easy to find.
sending you a good vibe right now,
Jan
Actually, I don't think I have balance in any season.
ReplyDeleteOh, did I say that????
Anyway.
Migraines suck.
Big time.
Hint: Excedrin, Gatorade {the new Blueberry-Pomegranate flavor tastes great and looks even better!}, and a pile of soda crackers.
Then go lay down in a dark, quiet room.
Feel better, Chickie!
Thanks all for the good thoughts and advice! I'm feeling much better:)
ReplyDeleteI usually ask myself if I actually "have" to do something. Most of the obligations I have are self-imposed when I really think about them and not necessarily things others are expecting of me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hearts, by the way!
so glad that you're feeling better Bobbi...
ReplyDeleteso are you going to give the Jasper a go? I dreamt about it...and in the dream I already had some (which doesn't jive with my waking reality)...gonna have to buy some now!!!! and some for my weary friends.
if you want, I will even buy some for you...just email me at janiceolander@hotmail.com with your snail mail address. remember to accept the generosity of friends... :O)
