Poinsettia Crochet

poinsettia ornament_1
Sometimes during crafting or art making, it's hard to know when the project is complete.  Or, the answer to that other ever burning question, "is this any good?"  For myself, I've discovered that if it makes me giggle, I've hit on something good.

That's the way it was with this poinsettia pattern I've been working on.  I had a vague picture in my head of what I wanted.  I really should have sketched it out; that would have helped me get there, but I just kept crocheting, trying to make it into a poinsettia.  I had one that I was going to settle for, but I was a little uneasy about it.  It was ok, but not what I had imagined.  Finally I came up with this one.  And, yes!  It made me giggle:)  I was going to make another garland with these, but I think instead I'm going to leave them as individual ornaments.

Are you staying warm where you are?  We have a huge storm coming through I hear, blizzard warnings and everything.  The wind has been carrying on for a couple days.  Sometimes I find that when it's really windy, I get a very uneasy, on-edge feeling.  Does that happen to you?  Probably left over from growing up in tornado alley.  But if I had fur, it would be standing straight up right now!

I'm going to go curl up by the fireplace with my crochet hook and a comforting cup of tea:)

  1. Good luck with the storm! I hear it's going from my neighborhood to yours...but thankfully, we've been spared the fifty mph wind gusts we were warned about last night...so grateful to still have power when it's 23 degrees outside!

  2. When we lived in the sub-tropics of Queensland, Australia, a huge storm hit us destroying five homes on the valley floor. My husband said he noticed that all the birds stopped singing and there was an eerie quiet just before the storm hit. Seems nature really does tune in, doesn't it?
