August is the very best of summer here in Utah. The days and nights are cooler, with the oppressive heat of July behind us. The first serious harvests are coming in, and tomatoes are tumbling out of the gardens. The boughs of fruit trees hang heavy with apricots, peaches, plums, and cherries. And lovely friends show up on your doorstep with baskets of goodness.
Which becomes jam! It seems like a lot of work, for very little output, but in the middle of winter, opening up a jar of summer is worth every bit of hot kitchen and sticky countertops:)
Oh wow!! What a great gift from your friends, and that jam is going to be SO GOOD this winter!

ReplyDeleteI shared this with my hubster and after his jaw dropped he exclaimed, "I would take that to work, and just eat it with a spoon."
ReplyDeleteSo, good job!
We just got the stuff to do this ourselves recently, but have yet to try!
Awesome, I totally want to try that! Just this past year my boyfriend and I have gotten really serious about eating local and organic when possible...it's so fun learning to eat with the seasons, but saving some summer for winter will be wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteI've found that having jars of tomatoes and fruit from the summer makes getting through the winter soooo much easier!
ReplyDeletesounds quite good!
