I've been whittling away at that "want to do" list from Tuesday. I started painting things (#7). It's supposed to start raining today, then turning to snow later, so I thought I should get out there and get this done. This is an old plastic frame that I got years ago, with glass and a picture of flowers or something; it was from one of those home decor companies that work like a Tupperware party. I had all kinds of that stuff. It was before I started learning about my own style. I'm going to draw a picture to put back in. It probably will be a pelican.
This is a stool I picked up at a yard sale last summer for a dollar! I love things for a dollar:) It's been out on the front porch all winter, so I spent a good amount of time sanding some rust off. And just in case you're wondering, one can of spray paint will paint this much stuff. Well, not quite, there are a couple of spots that could use one more squirt. On the way back from our photo excursion (#9) yesterday, we stopped off at a new to me thrift store. I am so going back to this one! I found this cake stand for $4; that's pretty much as good as one dollar. I've been dreaming about finding one of these, but haven't had any luck until yesterday. I was on the glass isle, and found a pretty green water pitcher. I picked it up and was carrying it around the store. I was absent mindedly running my fingers over the spout when I realized it was broken. So, disappointed, I took it back to the glass isle. I took one more glance around and there was this cake stand, sitting right there, saying, "buy me!" I know it needs a pretty cake on it, and it will get one this weekend, but every time I look at it, I imagine pansies inside. Can you see it?
I found this pyrex dish for a dollar. Yep.
I have a busy weekend ahead working on #10; it won't be outside most likely, but I am having guests for dinner tomorrow, then brunch on Sunday. That means I'm going to take tomorrow off from blogging to prepare food and clean this house. If you have any good brunch suggestions, leave them in the comments! Have a wonderful weekend!
You don't want to ask me about food, unless you want my mac and cheese recipe :) I love your finds, and yes I was into Home Interiors too (home decor that you could only get at home parties) Is that still around?
ReplyDeleteDiane, they've changed their name to Celebrating Home.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your little stool!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd it was only a dollar???
Even tight a$$ me would jump at that.......
I would have jumped at your covered cake stand, too....that is awesome!
Did it get a cake???
Look at you go! Nothing that comes out my kitchen would be fancy enough for your party, but I can't wait to see what you make! Love the teal- I need to refinish a deck rocking chair, and haven't decided on a color yet. My house is green...and I can't decide if I care if the chair clashes :)
ReplyDeleteWas it you that wanted a video of Summertime? The performance is posted on the blog :)
