Goodbye Gourmet
The news was announced yesterday that yet another magazine is folding. Our beloved Gourmet, who has been with us for 70 years, through burnt sauces and fabulous souffles is leaving us with the November issue. This is very sad indeed. I know we can get thousands of recipes off the internet, but snuggling up to a computer will never rival the feel of a slick, glossy magazine in your hands. I can flip through the pages of the magazine and not worry about the flour stuck to my fingers. Can't do that with the computer. Gourmet was a wealth of wonderful recipes every month, not to mention the luscious photography and styling! How are we to live without that? There are blogs with pretty photos and exceptional food styling, but still - not like Gourmet magazine.
