In the Garden Again

Iris
I've been hard at work getting the flower beds weeded and the raised beds ready to plant.  Things are blooming and it makes me so very very happy.  It is fun to see what surprises are going to appear!  When we moved in here, three years in August, I transplanted some iris from my old place.  The first summer I don't believe they bloomed, then last year there were some that I didn't remember planting, and then later these favorites bloomed.  Now this year, these ones that I do remember from the old house are back again!

Poppy
The poppies are getting ready to bloom.

Peony
And I found the peony that I was certain I had lost!  I have been trying to get this guy to grow for a couple years now.  He just wasn't working where I had him before, so last year I transplanted him, but forgot where and was sure he'd given up the fight.  I found him last week!  And he is alive and ready to try another season!

mountain cornflower
These Mountain Cornflowers are one of the first perennials to bloom each year.  They make a beautiful mound of blue flowers, but quickly that mound gets huge and shaggy!  This year I think I will prune them back after they finish blooming.  They usually bloom again later in the summer.

Strawberries
There are going to be lots of yummy strawberries this year!  My raspberry, which I didn't take a picture of, has buds forming.  I'll probably only get a handful there, but it will be a wonderful handful I am sure:)

Pop over to the Lake Bonneville Crochet Reef blog to see how the installation is coming!  It is proving to be a bit more of a challenge than the last space; still I'm so excited about how it's coming along.

Yay for "found" plants! I play that game every time we need to dig up the front yard again....hahaha. Always a waiting game in the Spring to see what ended up where.
