Crochet Withdrawal

fan fire coral wip
I thought I'd show you a piece of crazy coral I've been working on for the reef project.  I wrenched my shoulder somehow either last week or the week before; I can't even remember anymore.  I suspect I did it in the process of taking down and replacing the shower curtain, and vacuuming, which just goes to show that housework is dangerous to your health.  So I haven't been able even to crochet, because there is too much arm movement.   I really want to get back to work on this!  I'm going to give it a little go this afternoon.

This is what I'm going for, a piece of Fan Fire Coral.  Right now I'm just crocheting a big, floppy, ruffly piece out of wool.  When it's big enough, I'm going to felt it in the washer.   After that, I'll take some wool roving and needle felt it on the back of the gold piece, and add in bits and pieces of other wool and maybe some random fibers.  We'll just see what happens as I go along.

I'm so excited to get to the felting part so I can see this piece come together.  I love playing with the textures.

What new projects do you have going?

Oh!  I almost forgot.  Suddenly this morning I started getting excessive amounts of spam comments, so I've put the comment moderator on.  Weird too, because I had the word verification that is supposed to filter out machines from humans.  Either machines are getting smarter, or the spammers are now paying humans tiny amounts to sit and spam blogs.  So, even though I really don't like it, it's there for now.

Happy Monday!
