Thrifty Finds

It's 4:30 in the afternoon and I'm just now starting to type!!  I still have to throw dinner together, so I'd better get my thoughts out fast.

I thought I'd take this opportunity to practice my mad styling skills (cough! cough!) and show you all my loot I found at the thrift store Friday and Saturday.  Yes, that's right!  I went TWICE.  I don't know what came over me.  This red plate came over me.  It's my favorite German brand of dinnerware, Waechthersbach,  that even I in all my clumsiness can't break or chip!

I'm planning for summer dinners out on the patio with some new old linens, pretty plates, and a couple trays that will get a coat of paint.
blue glasses
I think some lemonade or sangria would be nice in these glasses.  I have a weakness for blue glass.  Check out that very bright tablecloth.  Actually it's a bedspread, but it was marked tablecloth and I decided it would make a good one.  I should have taken a picture of the funky turquoise fringe.

I found this tart pan with a pretty embossed design and the turny thing to loosen the crust, a Nordicware bundt pan for $1.99!  It's in perfect condition.  And of course the green tablecloth and these lovely Japanese linen napkins, one of them perfectly pristine with its "made in occupied Japan" label still attached.

Well, until DH ripped it out!  Sorry hon, I had to call you out on this one; I couldn't just let it slip by. (snicker snicker)

I was a little conflicted about bringing home more stuff.  Last week, while having this very strong urge to go thrifting, I kept running across blog posts like this one at Decor8 and this one at makeundermylife, extolling the virtues of minimalism.  I am actually very drawn to pictures of minimal, spare decor, but really, give me a day in one of those rooms and I'll have it full of baskets of yarn, stacks of books, assorted bowls.  Yeah, I think I'll take my cozy, lived in house:)

Oh get that dinner in the oven!
