What do you think of the new banner? I still need to work on the type. DH is good at that, so I'm waiting for him to have some free time. He's working from home today, as we got to go visit the accountant and do our taxes. It's actually looking good this year, with buying the house and all. Yippee!
Like many of you, I like to browse around the craft blogs, looking for crafty things to do in my home. I've been thinking lately about how much I enjoy and appreciate the whole DIY mindset. The idea of doing it yourself and using your creativity is so freeing. I can remember back to being a young homemaker and having some pictures I wanted to put up, but I didn't have any frames or the money to buy them. I remember that this really upset me, because I was still set in the idea that there was a particular way to do things and a certain way you went about decorating your home. Now with the resurrection of mend and make do, I know that I could crochet a frame if I wanted, or even better - skip the frame and just tack it to the wall with a straight pen!
Even today, I've been wanting to make some new couch pillows, but not wanting to spend the money on pillow forms. The other day I was over at Craft Leftovers and found this tutorial. It was definitely one of those "why didn't I think of that?" moments. But again, it made me feel so free to realize that I could do this project without having to go buy anything.
Over at Craftzine is another project I found and it's a fun site where you'll find lots more crafty things.
I've been working on my product photography skills and having DH help me learn the post-camera editing. I struggle with white balance apparently. Here's what I accomplished today. I think it's a pretty good improvement. I found lots of helpful advice here.
The new banner is fantastic...love all the colors. Also love your photography...it's beautiful!
ReplyDeletethanks Linda:)
ReplyDeleteBobbi, thanks so much for the photography link. I get very fustrated with my photos, and I know it's me, not the camera. And, yes, I love, love your banner!
ReplyDeleteI like the banner a lot too. My only comment is the text gets sort of lost. A few ideas:
ReplyDelete1) In photoshop you can screen back the ground image so the text pops out more (of course, some of the fabulous colors lose some of the lustre in the process)
2) Play around with different text colors. White might work. Or Maybe white with a drop shadow.
3) You can always tell me to go stick it where the sun doesn't shine! LOL!
You know how I feel about those flowers, so I love this picture :)
ReplyDeletePost processing is something I've barely touched- good for you for educating yourself!
