"I can bake a cherry pie quick as a cat can wink its eye. Pumpkin, peach, and a half a dozen others."**I am so happy to have my kitchen back! a better kitchen! and be baking again! Already, I'm pawning baked goods off on my new neighbors. I love cooking in my new kitchen:) It is so amazing to actually have counter space to work at, and it's easy to move around in there. I was a bit discouraged when I went out to the kitchen late last night and realized I had to wash all of those dishes by hand! I'll get used to it though, get a rhythm going, and it will all be fine. Just the fact that it is my very own kitchen makes it all fine.
I've been drooling over this recipe for weeks, and decided to make it in celebration of my new kitchen. I made it smaller, because really, what are the two of us going to do with a giant slab of cherry pie? I haven't met that many neighbors yet! I used Utah cherries from the farmers market of course. I sat on my new front porch yesterday, pitting cherries. That felt like such a homey, summery thing to be doing.
We finished the move finally on Friday, and got the old place cleaned up. I was so glad to wave good bye to that house. We spent the weekend starting to put our new home together. It took two days just to get my kitchen organized. I'm pretty sure I have it the way I want it....almost; there are still a couple things to do; the top of the fridge is cluttered with vitamin bottles, and there are a couple boxes in there that I just don't know what to do with.
I'm off to tackle bookshelves now. At some point today I'm hoping to find my razor. I'm afraid someone is going to mistake me for Sasquatch soon, and I'll end up in a zoo.

You're too good.
This evening I plan on making a real dinner for the first time in my new kitchen....we've been in over a week and I've just now been able to unpack the kitchen after Ter put the pot rack up.
I'm going to make turkey mignon, mashed potatoes, salad and a blueberry peach cobbler for dessert.
Looking forward to baking again.
It was so good talking to you on the phone this morning. I miss you more than ever!
Lalie
what is turkey mignon?
YAY! that pie looks delicious too. we are moving as well, so i know how you feel.
Turkey mignon is turkey breasts wrapped with bacon. I found them at Sunflower a few years ago then a couple of weeks ago found them again at Sam's club.
They are pretty good. My mom really likes em.
